Established in 1948, Ackermans Pharmacy has grown from a single counter into one of South Africa's largest and best-known discount pharmacies. More than seventy years on, we still believe that healthcare is about more than medicine – it is about people, trust, and community.

Our story

What began as a small family pharmacy in Primrose, Germiston, is today a large dispensary and retail store of around 1 600 m², with a team of some 160 pharmacists and support staff. We fill thousands of prescriptions every week, manage chronic medication for families across the East Rand, and stock a wide range of wellness essentials and everyday healthcare products — all at prices our community can afford.
